About the Designer

Frederick Rodrigues is a transdisciplinary media artist, researcher, and educator working on unceded Gadigal land. His creative work explores the interactions between living organisms and technological and social constructs, as well as the relationships between discrete technological entities. Building on a lifelong curiosity (starting with a fork in a power point) and an ongoing interest in the use and misuse of technology, Frederick’s work produces ideas, experiences and media that unfold across galleries, performances, networks, circuits and software systems.

Frederick’s work is critical of a world in which technology is used to extract, oppress and dominate in the name of profit, and of the physical, social and psychological structures shaped by capitalism, imperialism and colonisation. In his practice, the manipulation of code, electronics, media, and networks serve both as a medium and a methodology; reflective of a world where technology extends into social and psychological realms.

Join us in welcoming Fred Rodrigues as our speaker for the Design Talk on Tuesday, July 8, at 5 PM (CET). Here is the link to the talk!
