About the Designer
Matej Vojtuš is a graduate of the Typeface Design and Typography Studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. After working as a graphic designer at Host Publishing House, he established an independent practice focused on visual identities, editorial design, and type design through the Regular Lines type foundry. In 2018, he received the Slovak National Award for Communication Design. His work has been featured in publications including Étapes, Typodarium, It’s Nice That, and Antwerp Poster Festival, and was also presented at the 28th International Biennial of Graphic Design Brno. He collaborates with Josefina Karlíková and Josef Ondrik in a shared studio based in Prague. Their recent work includes visual identities for Holešovice Market, Divadlo v Dlouhé, and the Prague Philharmonic Choir, as well as the visual concept for Most Beautiful Czech Books of 2023. Their publication Prague Birds 1800–2020 received the Award for Non-fiction Literature of the Year. Alongside his professional practice, he teaches typography at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Brno University of Technology. His work operates across typography, visual identity, and experimental design, with a strong emphasis on typeface development, cultural projects, and contemporary visual communication. Combining systematic thinking with experimentation, his practice explores the relationship between language, context, and digital tools within graphic design.
